History of St Annes Beach Huts

Beach Huts have been around Lytham St Annes as far back as the nineteenth century when no trip to the resort was complete without a dip in the sea from a bathing machine. These vehicles were the first beach huts in the area and were used to protect a patron’s modesty when they were transported to the sea shore in their swimwear.

The last huts in Lytham St Anne’s were demolished in 1980s (main picture above).
